I’ve avoided reviewing Red Rock for years, which is strange because I’ve probably eaten enough of their menu by now to qualify for some minor form of tenure. I remember this space before Red Rock was Red Rock. I’ve eaten here, ordered it delivered, worked my way through the roast beef bowls, omurice, curry, hamburger steak, shrimp, yakiniku, beef tongue, potato salad, basically enough of the menu that this isn’t based on one unfortunate day. And the frustrating thing is, the food is mostly good. Sometimes very good. Red Rock has always been a slightly peculiar proposition. A mound of rice buried beneath ribbons of nearly rare roast beef with an egg on top isn’t exactly an easy pitch to everyone. Neither is omurice. Soft egg over rice, surrounded by curry, perhaps topped with a hamburger steak or a couple of fried shrimp. There’s a lot of softness happening. Halfway through, your mouth occasionally starts requesting a different texture. But when it works, it works. The roast beef is tender. The sauces are good. The curry has that comforting Japanese richness to it. The fried things arrive crisp when you eat them there. Their lunch meats can be excellent. Even the cooks, whom you’

Found a new favorite place in Torrance! Their signature sliced beef bowl is absolutely killer! The beef is so tasty, juicy, and tender it just melts in your mouth. The hamburg demiglace sauce is also flavorful and makes a perfect combo with the fragrant garlic rice. Yum!! 😋 I would be coming here all the time if I didn't live so far. 🥹

Had this in Japan for the first time last year and it was heavenly! I was excited to see they had a CA location and it was just as delicious. 😊 The food quality is superior and everything we ordered was delicious! Excited to come back regularly. During busy periods such as dinner, please plan to wait as it gets busy. Try to arrive earlier as they have a cut off for the wait line near closing time. The inside is quite tight, so it may be tricky for wheelchair users or strollers.

I arrived a little after 5 PM on Sunday, and luckily there was one table available, so we were able to sit down without waiting. About a month ago, I visited Japan and had an omurice and hamburger steak set that I really loved. I had been searching for a place in LA that serves something similar, and that’s how I found this restaurant. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The hamburger steak was very tender and delicious, and the omurice along with its sauce was also fantastic. My wife ordered the Kalbi yakiniku, which had a great smoky flavor and was very tasty. The seasoning was slightly on the salty side, but it paired perfectly with the white rice that came with it. There was plenty of parking, and having a Japanese market right next door made it fun to look around as well. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience.

Kara age fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It came out very hot, which made it even better. It was well seasoned, so it didn’t need much sauce. Steak curry & rice was really good. It tasted like the curry I had in Japan and was the best Japanese curry I’ve had recently. They recommended ordering the steak well done, so I went with that. The sauce portion was generous, so there was plenty to go with the rice. There are no extra toppings just rice, curry, and steak but I would come back to have it again.
